A planned battle of Ultimate Fighter champions is now off, as Kelvin Gastelum suffered a torn PCL during training.
Gastelum was scheduled to meet Court McGee this December at UFC on FOX 9. Officials are working on securing a replacement for McGee for the December 14 event from Sacramento.
The card has already undergone several changes, including a new main event between UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez.
Gastelum confirmed news of the injury on his Twitter page, adding that he will not need surgery and hopes to be back in early 2014. He is 7-0 in his MMA career, including wins over Uriah Hall and Brian Melancon.
McGee (16-3) has won five of his seven UFC fights, including back-to-back wins at 170 pounds since moving down from middleweight.
