The first Team Alpha Male fighter will make that walk next, as Danny Castillo does battle with Edson Barboza in the 155-pound division. Castillo (16-5) is on a two-fight win streak and is 5-1 in his last six overall.
Barboza (12-1) has rebounded from his first career loss in 2012 to finish both Rafaello Oliveira and Lucas Martins this year.
Round 1: Barboza finding out what U.S. fighters feel competing in Brazil, as the pro-Castillo crowd hammers him with booing during intros. Barboza fends off the first takedown attempt and shows his striking with some quick lefts and rights. Castillo hurts Barboza and drops him, pressuring him with more shots. Barboza is hurt and Castillo scores with a takedown, moving quickly to a rear-naked choke. He locks it in, but gives it up and goes to the ground-and-pound as the Sacramento crowd approves. Barboza looks dazed and tries to tie him up with two minutes to go. Huge right hand lands from Castillo, who avoids a triangle attempt. More punishment by the Team Alpha Male fighter. Castillo has a crank, but gives it up again and goes back to the ground-and-pound. He is really hammering away on Barboza, who is now busted wide open across his forehead. Barboza catches his leg and nearly gets a heel hook before Castillo slips out. Some big upkicks by Barboza just miss and the round comes to an end.

Round 2: Barboza starts the round out with his leg kicks, which he needs to do to get back in this one. Castillo may have used most of his energy trying to finish this one in the first, too. Big spinning back kick lands by Barboza, and the crowd enjoys it on their hometown fighter. Another leg kick by the Brazilian, and another, with sickening sounds. A huge spinning heel kick just misses and it was quick. More leg kicks with just incredible speed from Barboza. Castillo has little movement and can’t capitalize when Barboza slips on a spinning attempt. Barboza floors Castillo with a left and pounces, working for a choke right in the middle of the Octagon. Castillo fights free and this has turned into a crazy bout between these two, with each one dominating their respective round.

Round 3: Nice show of sportsmanship between these two, who have really ignited the arena. Barboza back to peppering off the leg kicks, connecting with three straight. Barboza looks to be the fresher fighter, moving well and landing with his hands as much as his feet. Front kick backs Castillo up, who is denied on a takedown attempt. Castillo able to get inside and do some work for the first time since the opening minutes. Castillo is hurt by a spinning back kick, as he gets doubled over. Another one from Barboza, who follows with a left hook and just misses a spinning high kick. Castillo was stopped in his tracks for a brief moment. Nice right from Castillo who gets denied again on a takedown attempt and takes a huge breath after another spinning attack lands by Barboza. Barboza surprises Castillo with a takedown as we go under 30 seconds.
