According to a report by MMAjunkie.com, bantamweight prospects Thomas Almeida and Cody Garbrandt will have the biggest fights of their respective careers at UFC Fight Night 89.
The two unbeaten fighters with a combined seven Octagon wins will serve as the headline bout to the May 29 event from Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Renan Barao vs. Jeremy Stephens is also expected that night.
Almeida (20-0) is on a three-fight stoppage streak, having bested the likes of Yves Jabouin, Brad Pickett and Anthony Birchak. Garbrandt (8-0) was set to meet John Lineker before the Brazilian pulled out, taking out Augusto Mendes instead.
The Team Alpha Male-trained Garbrandt has also defeated Marcus Brimage and Henry Briones in his UFC career.
