After making his Octagon debut on short notice against Daniel Cormier, former NCAA wrestler Patrick Cummins has found himself on a roll with the UFC.

Cummins looks for his third win of 2014 Saturday night at UFC Fight Night 58 against recent Ultimate Fighter: Brazil winner Antonio Carlos, Jr. Since his first round TKO loss to Cormier, Cummins (6-1) has topped Kyle Kingsbury and Roger Narvaez.

“I want to go in there and end on a high note, cement in people’s minds that, ‘Oh, this guy is for real. He actually wants to win,'” said Cummins, during a recent interview with “I really pushed for one last fight (in 2014). Most importantly for me is that I want to end this year on a high note.

“I came in (to the UFC) pretty low, so I want to stay active as much as possible and keep climbing the ranks.”

Cummins won his first four pro bouts, but competed just those four times over the course of four years. He agreed to meet Cormier after an injury knocked out Rashad Evans just weeks before the scheduled bout.
