We close out the 2014 UFC events season with UFC Fight Night 58 this Saturday night, as two former champions return to action in their native country of Brazil.
In the main event, Lyoto Machida collides with C.B. Dollaway, while the co-main boasts Renan Barao vs. Mitch Gagnon.
Nearly all of the action – 10 of the 12 planned fights – will air on FOX Sports 1, while the other two get the UFC Fight Pass treatment.
Here’s three things to look for during the fights:
Can C.B. Dollaway pull a Phil Davis?
Back in 2013, Machida appeared on his way to securing another title fight after wins over Ryan Bader and Dan Henderson. The UFC matched him with Phil Davis in Brazil, and the result was not good for “The Dragon,” who came out on the losing end of a decision.
Dollaway presents many of the same traits as Davis, being a former wrestler. While his resume isn’t quite up to par with “Mr. Wonderful,” he has found himself on quite the roll as of late.
For Dollaway to make it three in a row, he’ll need to follow the same game plan of Davis: grind on Machida and avoid the big strikes. If he can do that, he just might secure his biggest win to date.
