Mike King vs. Cathal Pendred
Two middleweights – and teammates – from the recent season of The Ultimate Fighter collide, as Mike King (5-0) meets Ireland’s own Cathal Pendred (13-2-1).
Round 1: Just a slight advantage in terms of crowd support from Pendred, who fights out of Dublin. Pendred wastes no time, coming right out and hammering big right hands at King. King, though, scores with a takedown in retaliation. Pendred gets to his feet and is met by a shot from King. Nothing but fireworks in the first minute of this one. King with a right to the chin, as he catches Pendred trying to switch levels. Pendred takes the back, locks up his hands around the waist and scores with a takedown. Good side kick from King connects. Exchange of right hands and King lands the best one, dropping Pendred. King is on the attack, hammering away with heavy shots, but Pendred appears to have recovered from the onslaught. King drops down into side control, switches to full mount and takes the back for a brief moment. King flies over top of Pendred and secures a rear-naked choke as we head under two minutes, but Pendred survives. King now on his back, peppering him with lefts and rights to the head. Pendred trying his hardest to get free and King transitions to an armbar attempt. Pendred, though, gets out of it and the crowd greets him with thunderous applause. Incredible heart to survive that beating by Pendred.

Round 2: King walking down Pendred, but with a little less aggression this round. He used a lot of energy trying to finish the Irish fighter in the first five minutes. King with a beautiful kick to the midsection, but it allows Pendred to score with a takedown. King bucks him right off and lands a single-leg takedown of his own. Pendred with another takedown and takes the back, locking in a hook with two minutes to go. He’s peppering his face with right hands, securing a second hook and moving to get the choke. The crowd is screaming and King immediately goes out.
