Conor McGregor vs. Diego Brandao
We’ve arrived at the main event, and it should be nothing short of excitement. Following knee surgery, Conor McGregor (14-2) returns to the Octagon to face former Ultimate Fighter winner Diego Brandao (18-9).
Round 1: Despite all the trash-talk before hand, both men were very respectful of one another and even touched gloves. Head-kick lands by Brandao and McGregor answers with a spinning kick. Brandao is coming right out after him, going for a takedown. Very calm demeanor by Brandao, which is something new for him. Exchange of knees to the body inside the clinch and Brandao scores with a takedown. On the way down, though, it’s McGregor who reverses and winds up on top. McGregor folds him up and lands with a right, but Brandao shoots off an upkick. Brandao tries for a leglock but is unsuccessful and McGregor is back on top. McGregor peppering him with shots to the face as we head under two minutes in the opening round. McGregor with a left as Brandao gets to his feet. Spinning back kick lands, but Brandao slips. They are exchanging in the center of the Octagon. Right-left combo lands and Brandao is hurt. McGregor pounces and this one is all over.
