Yves Edwards vs. Piotr Hallmann
Our first of four lightweight matches on the main card is next, as Yves Edwards takes on Piotr Hallmann.
Edwards (42-20-1) will be looking for his first wins since 2012, as he lost to Isaac Vallie-Flagg and Daron Cruickshank last year, along with a no-contest vs. Yancy Medeiros. Hallmann (14-2) had his 10-fight win streak snapped by Al Iaquinta in October.
Round 1: Edwards with a nasty head kick, followed by a knee to the body. He’s hitting Hallmann with heavy, heavy attacks right away. Thumb right into the eye of Edwards and we have a break in the action. Edwards is fine and we return to action. Good striking continues by the veteran, but Hallmann scores a takedown. He latches to the back, only to wind up caught in a guillotine. Edwards releases that and lands an elbow-uppercut combo. Inside-outside leg kick combination from Hallmann, who follows up with a takedown.

Round 2: Another eye poke by Hallmann, but we are back to action quickly. Hallmann with a nice knee that catches Edwards, who fires back with an elbow. Another warning for the eye pokes. On purpose or not, Edwards pokes Hallmann in the eye and we have a break. Edwards stringing things together, landing a knee and several rights to the body. Hallmann credited with another takedown as we head under two minutes. Hallmann doing nice damage inside the half-guard, landing elbows. He gives up his back and has been busted open, as a pool of blood forms on the canvas. Hallmann continues attacking, but Edwards is able to get to his feet. Quickly, Hallmann brings him back to the ground.

Round 3: Lefts connecting for Hallmann, as he unloads on Edwards. Single-leg takedown attempt from Hallmann, but he’s unable to secure it. Exchange of knees, and Hallmann shoots for another takedown. Good sprawl and Edwards counters. Hallmann on his back and hammering down with elbows. The ref is right on top to make sure they are legal. Edwards trying a sit-out to get to his feet, but Hallmann is displaying fine wrestling skills. He’s just about secured a full-mount, but switches to the back and quickly locks up a rear-naked choke. Seconds later, and Hallmann gets the submission win.
