John Dodson vs. John Moraga

A pair of former UFC flyweight No. 1 contenders will meet up, as John Dodson takes on John Moraga.

Dodson (15-6) rebounded from a decision loss to champion Demetrious Johnson, finishing Darrell Montague. Moraga (14-2) got back on track by defeating Dustin Ortiz after a 2013 submission loss to Johnson.

Round 1: Just an incredible reaction for Dodson, who is wearing his trademark smile. Loud cheers of “Dodson” right from the start. Quick left gets through for “The Magician.” Moraga throws up a head kick that misses, going over the top. Moraga shoots for a takedown, throws a knee that lands low and Dodson sprints away. He tries to get right back into the action without a stoppage, but the ref has none of it. A hug between the two, with Dodson smiling and Moraga not looking too amused. Good body shot by Moraga. Dodson shows that footwork by faking three jabs and landing the fourth. The left is working for Dodson, as he catches him yet again.

Round 2: Moraga trying to use his reach, and he lands with the overhand right. A second connects and Moraga tries for a takedown. However, it’s Dodson on top and he hammers away on the body. Moraga easily uses a butterfly guard to push Dodson off him. A much better round for Moraga. Dodson misses with a huge left, but follows up with a nice knee to the body. Out of nowhere, Dodson catches Moraga and drops him right in front of his teammates, Donald Cerrone and Carlos Condit. Dodson pounces and is on the attack, as Moraga is a bloody mess but will survive.
