Francis Carmont vs. C.B. Dollaway

In the co-main event, we remain at middleweight, with Francis Carmont squaring off against C.B. Dollaway.

Carmont (22-8) had his 11-fight win streak snapped this past February at the hands of Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. He had opened his UFC career with six straight wins, including victories over Costas Philippou, Lorenz Larkin and Tom Lawlor.

Dollaway (14-5) has put together a 3-1 run since a pair of losses to Jared Hamman and Mark Munoz in 2011. That includes wins over Jason “Mayhem” Miller, Cezar Ferreira and Daniel Sarafian.

Round 1: Nice exchange of leg kicks and these two seem interested in testing the other. Carmont with a heavy right and Dollaway answers with a kick. Carmont comes right back with a straight jab and another, and he appears to have found his range. Counter left by Carmont catches him and he tries for a spinning back kick. Both men throw their hands in the air and the crowd responds. Body kick and Dollaway floors Carmont with a shot. He attacks, but Carmont responds and has a single-leg takedown attempt. Dollaway peppering him with elbows to the heaad and Carmont screams and releases the hold. Again, they stand and throw their hands in the air. Carmont scores with a takedown with just 30 seconds left in the round. Dollaway reverses to end the round on top.

Round 2: Beautiful kick by Carmont and he throws his hands in the air again. It’s getting a little annoying at this point. Dollaway transitions nicely to score his first takedown, passing and tying up one arm of Carmont. Dollaway moves to the back as Carmont is trying to secure a possible kimura with just over a minute to go. Dollaway gets his arm out and into side control.

Round 3: Just a huge kick by Carmont, and Dollaway smiles back at him, but that one had to hurt. Nice side kick and Dollaway shakes his head. He does not seem impressed by Carmont…which I say because Georges St-Pierre is in the corner of Carmont. Dollaway with a takedown and he immediately takes the back. More grunting from Carmont, and it appears as if Dollaway may have caught himself as his face is not a bloody mess. Dollaway gets both hooks in right in the corner of Carmont, who slips free and out. Dollaway has him mounted and is hammering down shots with just over a minute left. He takes the back and is flattening him out.
