Dan Henderson earned a second straight win over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua Sunday night at UFC Fight Night 38, besting the Brazilian this time in his native country.
After the two went to a five-round decision in 2011, Henderson overcame a rough start to blast Rua with his patented “H-bomb” in the third. Several uncontested shots on the ground later, and “Hendo” was declared the winner for a second time.
With the win, Henderson snapped a three-fight losing skid – all of which came in 2013 against former UFC champions.
In the night’s co-main event, Brazil was hit with another shocker, as American C.B. Dollaway knocked Cezar Ferreira out. The battle of former Ultimate Fighter competitors didn’t last long, as Dollaway landed a counter on a fast-charging Ferreira and stopped him in his tracks.
Other main card winners included Leonardo Santos, Fabio Maldonado, Michel Prazeres and Rony Jason. Of the 11 fights, five ended by either knockout or TKO and another two were finished via rear-naked chokes in the first round.
