Jussier Formiga vs. Scott Jorgensen
The only flyweight encounter of the card sees Jussier Formiga battle Scott Jorgensen.
Formiga (15-3) entered the UFC in 2012 with much hype, but was finished by John Dodson. He rebounded to defeat Chris Cariaso, but was again finished – this time by Joseph Benavidez – last September.
Jorgensen (14-8) is trying to avoid the first three-fight losing skid of his career after losses to Zach Makovsky and Urijah Faber. This is his second fight at 125 pounds.
Round 1: Slight delay after something was left on the canvas and Jorgensen asked for it to be cleaned up. Now, here we go, and Jorgensen lands a nice combo to start. Formiga gets in close and tries for a takedown, scores with it, but can’t keep him down for long. Huge uppercut and Formiga just eats it, clinches and lands a few quick shots from in close. Formiga has been aggressive, but a very wild aggression. Takedown for Formiga and he quickly transitions to the back, figure four around the body and he is working for the choke with two minutes to go. Formiga’s getting the arm around the neck and he quickly gets it, as the crowd goes bananas.
