Rafael Cavalcante entered the Octagon with some late advice from Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. He informed the light heavyweight to go for the clinch and that’s just what happened. Cavalcante scored a first round stoppage of Igor Pokrajac at UFC Fight Night 32.
“I was always good in the clinch,” said Cavalcante to TATAME. “Before entering the cage, ‘Minotauro’ said that when the opponent feels my heavy hands to clinch first. I did and it worked. I was with this in mind.”
The win was Cavalcante’s first for the UFC and he’s 1-1 for the promotion. The former Strikeforce champ joined the UFC when Strikeforce ceased operations.
Pokrajac has dropped his last four for the UFC. One loss was overturned due to the dirty drug test of Joey Beltran.
They fought on the main card of UFC Fight Night 32 on November 9. It came from Brazil’s Goiânia Arena.
