UFC Fight Night 29: Alan Patrick Vs. Garett Whiteley

Alan Patrick vs. Garett Whiteley

We begin with action in the lightweight division, as Alan Patrick (10-0) and Garett Whiteley (8-0) make their Octagon debuts. Both fighters come from the regional circuit and feature unblemished records. Marc Goddard serves as the referee.

Round 1: Patrick wastes no time scoring a power double-leg takedown, dragging Whiteley to the canvas. Whiteley lands a nice elbow, but is unable to avoid the takedown. Quickly, Whiteley back to his feet and Patrick clinches up against the fence. Both fighters are swinging for the fences, but neither can connect. And we have our first low blow of the evening, as Whiteley is stopped in his tracks. Perfectly-timed spinning heel kick by Patrick, who just misses and goes for a takedown. Whiteley lands an uppercut that nearly floors Patrick. Patrick combos a spinning elbow and a right, and Whiteley seems to embrace it, throwing his own right cross. Whiteley lands a knee to the head and appears to have found his range to strike. Just like that, though, Patrick floors Whiteley and pounces. Several big lefts later and this one is over, as the wrestler finishes the striker.
