The UFC broke into the Forbes “Fab 40″ for most valuable sports brands, the site announced recently. The MMA leader was listed with an estimated value of $1.65 billion, a profitability of $1.21 billion and the UFC brand itself worth $440 million.
It marked the first time they have broken into the rankings, which take into account businesses, events, teams and athletes, quantifying the earning power of each brand relative to its competitors.
Nike is the most valuable sports brand, topping out at $19 billion. The UFC is ranked 10th on the list.
In an interesting twist, a new addition to the Fab 40 for events was the WWE’s WrestleMania pay-per-view. The WrestleMania brand is worth $105 million, placing it eighth among sporting events.
