Walt Harris didn’t care that Cody East wanted to knock him out.
Harris, who trains with American Top Team members like Deontay Wilder and Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, finished East in the first round at UFC 197 Saturday night.
“I’m talking to you, I can’t believe it,” Harris told Joe Rogan. “I’ve made this conversation between me and you in front of my mirror for years.
“I did it. I did it baby.”
Harris (8-4) has finished all eight of his wins inside of the first round, but this was the first time he was successful in four Octagon appearances. He lost to Soa Palelei in 2014 and was also bested by Nikita Krylov and Jared Rosholt.
“I can take a punch,” he said. “I train with Deontay Wilder, Bigfoot Silva hits me hard. Everybody hits me hard, that’s why I stood in the pocket and traded with him because I know I’m going to win it every time.”
East was making his Octagon debut, but fell to 12-2 overall.
