If you told your friends, and or enemies that today’s weigh-ins for UFC 189 would be electric, well, you were on their mark. Yes, both Conor McGregor and Chad Mendes made weight today for their headliner tomorrow night, amidst a roaring crowd.
McGregor came in at 145 for the bout, and then after Mendes weighed in at 144.5, “Money” immediately got in his opponent’s face and forced Dana White to quickly intervene. Mendes was laughing away, while McGregor didn’t seem too pleased. As you know, the two will fight for the vacant interim featherweight belt, following the withdrawal of champion Jose Aldo.
In the card’s other title fight, both welterweight champ Robbie Lawler and Rory MacDonald hit their marks. The latter came in at 170, and the champ tipped the scales at 169.5.
Here are the official weigh-in results for Saturday’s card, which will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Vegas. It should be a doozy.
