UFC 183 Fight Pass Prelim Results and Play-by-Play

Alrighty. UFC 183’s Fight Pass prelims will be underway shortly in lovely Las Vegas, so let’s get to the action…

Before the prelims got underway, the UFC announced that a featherweight bout between Diego Brandao and Jim Hettes has been cancelled. The promotion said the fight was called off because Hettes experienced medical issues. No specific details were provided.

Andy Enz vs. Thiago Santos

Both middleweights come out firing a lot of punches and kicks. Santos chucks a hard kick to the body of Enz, which the latter partially blocks. Enz plants a solid, counter right hand not long after. Wow. Another hard kick lands to the body of Enz. The American appears to be hurt. Santos swarms in and puts Enz down. Ref comes in to end the flurry of Santos. Impressive win for Santos.

Ildemar Alcantara vs. Richardson Moreira 

Moreira throws a couple of kicks but there’s not much going on in the opening minute. Alcantara tries a head kick but slips to the mat. Moreira storms in and is winging hard punches. The middleweights clinch up. Moreira changes levels, and tries rolling Alcantara, but the latter winds up on top. Moreira does a nice job of sweeping Alcantara. Moreira’s working within the guard of Alcantara and then dives for a leg. Round ends.

Round 2: Alcantara fires a head kick that’s blocked. Once again, both guys start the round out slow. Alcantara starts getting busier with strikes. Alcantara chucks another head kick which appears to land somewhat well, but Moreira keeps coming. Alcantara fires another head kick that just misses. Moreira shoots in for a takedown but can’t get it. Fans are a booin….

Round 3: Alcantara continues to be the busier of the two. Moreira blasts in with an overhand right but misses. Alcantara is throwing a nice jab from the southpaw stance. Some fans are definitely not thrilled with this bout… Moreira clinches up but isn’t doing much. Then, Moreira tries throwing Alcantara down but the latter grabs the fence, and gets a warning from the ref. Both guys are throwing the occasional shot. Moreira shoots in for a single but Alcantara defends. Moreira blasts in with some heavy shots but misses. Fight ends and some fans in attendance offer another round of boos.
