A bout has been added to the UFC 182 lineup, but it’s not Ronda Rousey.
Instead, Josh Burkman will return to the Octagon, agreeing to take on Hector Lombard. The event takes place January 3 and features Jon Jones defending his light heavyweight title against Daniel Cormier.
Burkman (27-10) has posted a 9-2 record since leaving the UFC in 2008. That includes a 4-1 mark with the World Series of Fighting.
“This doesn’t complete anything,” Burkman posted on Twitter. “It’s just the beginning. Officially back in the UFC.”
Lombard (34-4-1) is a former Bellator champion who has won two straight since moving down from middleweight to welterweight. He scored a decision over Jake Shields in his most recent appearance.
Below is the current lineup for the card:
UFC Light Heavyweight Championship
Jon Jones (c) vs. Daniel Cormier
Welterweight: Hector Lombard vs. Josh Burkman
