Francisco Rivera was right there with Urijah Faber this past weekend at UFC 181 before an inadvertent eye poke ended his night.
Rivera couldn’t overcome the poke, and Faber took advantage, locking up a submission and earning the second round win.
According to a report by MMAFighting.com’s Marc Raimondi, Rivera’s management team is planning to appeal the decision with the Nevada Athletic Commission.
Rivera also posted on Twitter, saying “It’s the hardest thing to see over and over…hope to get a rematch…wish we could have kept fighting it’s unfortunate.”
Faber stated in the post-fight interview that he didn’t realize there was an eye poke until seeing the replay. The loss dropped Rivera to 10-4 overall and 3-3 in six Octagon appearances.
