The UFC 178: Johnson vs Cariaso pay-per-view carries on in the middleweight division with a pivotal contest between Yoel Romero and Tim Kennedy.
They met in the center of the cage, Kennedy looking a bit tentative and Romero moving in with some steam behind his shots. It didn’t seem like Kennedy could get anything going, while Romero was using a wide arsenal of standup techniques and explosive power. Kennedy entered the second stanza sporting a bloody mustache and not really looking to engage with Romero standing up.
Kennedy managed to come back and land some crushing shots to Romero’s face just before the second round ended. But just as both fighters were set to come out for round three, Romero stayed on the stool half conscious and Big John just lets him remain there instead of waving the fight off.
Third round begins and it’s Romero who then comes back with some thunderous shots and stayed on Kennedy until the fight came to a halt.
Final Result: Yoel Romero def. Tim Kennedy by TKO (strikes) at 58 seconds of Round 3
