As we get closer to the pay-per-view side of UFC 178: Johnson vs Cariaso, lightweights Jorge Masvidal and James Krause collide in an interesting affair on the Fox Sports 1 portion of the fight card.
The fight got underway with Krause taking the center and Masvidal not backing down. Krause had the height advantage here and was looking to use it by staying at his range and making his shots count. Masvidal moved in and began to set in with his straight punching combinations that kept Krause backed into the fence momentarily. Masvidal’s pressure and varried attack is what won him the opening round.
Krause sealed a takedown in round two after setting in with his striking, but just as he got it Masvidal reversed him and went back to peppering him with punches standing up. As both guys were exchanging position on the ground, Masvidal clocked Krause with a hard right and knocked him down.
The third round went the same way – Masvidal taking control and not letting Krause do anything to convince the judges that he was the winner of this match.
Final Result: Jorge Masvidal wins via unanimous decision
