In the midst of all the drama surrounding UFC 178: Johnson vs Cariaso, it turns out that combatants Tim Kennedy and Yoel Romero could be in trouble for their wrongdoings over the course of a fight of the night contest that was held on last night’s pay-per-view show.
Kennedy was getting thumped on for the majority of the first two rounds before catching Romero clean with some solid punching combinations in the center of the cage. Romero looked to be out on his feet but was saved by the bell.
Now this is where the controversy comes in.
Romero took more than a minute to pop up off his stool and come out for the third round — which was a choice that was frowned upon by the former Army ranger — but still managed to come out in the third round and land a hard punch that led to the referee stoppage.
But upon closer review, video shows that Kennedy actually held on to his opponent’s glove while landing the blows that nearly ended the fight at the end of round two.
