Chris Weidman and Ronda Rousey successfully defended their titles Saturday night at UFC 175 – but both came in drastically different fashion.
Weidman went the full 25 minutes for the first time in his career, defeating Lyoto Machida and retaining the UFC middleweight title.
For Rousey, it took just 16 seconds, as she knocked out Alexis Davis with several strikes after a thunderous hip toss. “Rowdy” retained the UFC female bantamweight champions in the process.
The card was left a fight short after Stefan Struve was removed from a planned heavyweight fight with Matt Mitrione. Struve, recovering from a serious heart issue, was given tests after blacking out in the backstage warming up area during early action.
In other fight results, Uriah Hall overcame a broken toe to defeat Thiago Santos, Russell Doane defeated Marcus Brimage and Urijah Faber scored a submission victory over Alex Caceres.
