Daniel Sarafian vs. Kiichi Kunimoto
Our final prelim fight of the night takes place in the welterweight division, as Daniel Sarafian (8-4) faces off against Kiichi Kunimoto (16-5-2).
Sarafian, who owns seven submission wins to his name, is 1-2 in his three UFC appearances. Kunimoto was victorious over Luiz Jorge Dutra, Jr. this past January via disqualification. He is on a five-fight win streak and is 10-1-2 in his last 13 overall.
Round 1: Sarafian looks like a huge welterweight, as he is making his debut at this weight after dropping down from 185. He was drawn out at weigh-ins, but is back fully-packed now. Sarafian shows his power advantage, just pushing Kunimoto back. They clinch against the fence, and almost take the ref out in the process. In half-guard, Sarafian looking for a possible guillotine, but he’s unable to get it and gives up his back with two minutes to go in the round. Back to side control, switches to the back and locks in the hooks. He’s got a rear-naked choke locked in and Sarafian is forced to tap.
