Max Holloway vs. Andre Fili
The only featherweight bout of the night starts the main card, as Max Holloway squares off with Andre Fili.
Holloway (8-3) rebounded from a pair of 2013 losses to Conor McGregor and Dennis Bermudez by finishing Will Chope in January in Singapore. He is 4-3 since joining the UFC.
Fili (13-1) ran his win streak to nine when he finished Jeremy Larsen last October in his Octagon debut. He’s earned six finishes during his current run.
Round 1: Fili has his ears wrapped, as he has instruments in them causing large holes. Fili moving side-to-side, trying to keep Holloway off balance. He lands a nice jab, but a kick to the body is retaliated. Good inside leg kick from the member of Team Alpha Male. Uppercut from Holloway gets through and Fili is upset with himself for his lack of defense. Good spinning back kick from Holloway and Fili lands a left that hurts him. He’s attacking now, kicking to the body. Another left gets through from Fili, as Holloway has no answer for that left jab and is busted open. Just a ridiculously quick left jab by Fili. Excellent one-two combo by Fili, who again hits myself after Holloway connects. Fili with a nice takedown, but he can’t keep Holloway down. Holloway catches a kick and just misses on a big knee.

Round 2: Fili falling forward when he strikes, and Holloway lands a kick to the liver area. Fili appears to be hurt, and Holloway clinches, landing knees to the face. Another knee to the body connects. Stiff left jab from Holloway connects to the chin and he has confidence now, stalking forward after Fili. Kick from Fili almost knocks Holloway off his feet, but he regains his balance. Knee to the body allows Fili to score another takedown as we head under two minutes. No action and the ref quickly stands them up.

Round 3: Jab from Holloway lands to start the round, and Fili is breathing heavily a minute in. Fili with a takedown, and this time he appears to have control of Holloway on the canvas. Again, though, Holloway grabs the wrist and stands up. No damage done from Fili. Right from Holloway and Fili clinches, wanting nothing to do with the striking of the Hawaiian. Holloway snaps him down, working a guillotine as we head under two minutes. No shot a the the submission, and Fili gets tied up against the fence. Holloway rocks him and immediately goes for the choke, forcing Fili to tap.
