Alan Patrick’s name being called Saturday at UFC 169 surprised many, as the Brazilian scores a decision over John Makdessi.
For Patrick, he felt in control of the fight after the opening round of action.
“I faced a great opponent who tried to tie me up all the time,” he said. “My plan to was keep fighting with him and I did it.”
Patrick stated that he felt Makdessi was “desperate after the first round, so that’s the reason I could take him down every time when I wanted.”
The win improved Patrick to 12-0 in his career, including back-to-back wins inside the Octagon.
Makdessi held a plus-21 advantage in the significant striking, but Patrick scored on two takedowns.
