UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo could land in the headline fight on Super Bowl weekend.
Aldo would be facing Ricardo Lamas at UFC 169 in New Jersey, but the bout is far from official.
After his promotion jumped the gun in announcing Jon Jones-Glover Teixeira for the card, UFC president Dana White stated recently that “we’re talking about” that contest, but “we talk about a lot of things.”
Aldo (23-1) has earned five UFC victories, including recent wins over Frankie Edgar and Chan Sung Jung. Lamas (13-2) is on a four-fight win streak, including a win over Erik Koch earlier this year.
