Coming off a decision victory over John Lineker, Ali Bagautinov hopes his next step in a title shot in the UFC.
Bagautinov (13-2) scored his third straight victory inside the Octagon at UFC 169 Saturday night.
“My goal is to fight for the belt really soon,” Bagautinov said. “I’m extremely happy with this victory.”
Bagautinov earned a decision over Tim Elliott to conclude 2013 after stopping Marcos Vinicus earlier in the year in his UFC debut. He hasn’t lost since 2011 in Russia.
“I was sticking to the plan during the fight,” he said. “I could not finish him, however, he put me in trouble.”
As for Lineker, he said he was “sad” about the loss.
“I thought I could submit him, but he had good moves for getting free on my attempts,” he said. “At the moment, I keep wishing for my title shot.”
