Josh Barnett vs. Travis Browne
A heavyweight division title-eliminator is up next, as Josh Barnett (33-6) seeks his third straight victory against Travis Browne (15-1-1).
The winner here is likely to face Fabricio Werdum in a No. 1 contender match – if Werdum agrees to fight while current UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez recovers from surgery.
Barnett is an ex-UFC champion, while Browne has won two straight – both via first round knockout – since a loss to Antonio Silva.
Round 1: Barnett looking to grind away on Browne, as he quickly bullies him up against the fence. Browne avoids a takedown attempt and lands a nice left. Barnett trying for the clinch and Browne lands a knee instead. Browne, like he did to Gabriel Gonzaga, lands several elbows inside the clinch and Barnett is out. Browne keeps firing away and the ref jumps in to save Barnett. What a statement. Browne even does Barnett’s signature throat slash as the medics continue to check on Barnett.
