After five consecutive decisions, Donald Cerrone made sure the UFC 167 prelims would end on a high note, submitting Evan Dunham.
Cerrone almost finished the fight in the opening moments after a big shot, but had to settle for a second round triangle choke triumph.
“I knew it was over,” said Cerrone, when he locked up the hold. “An extra 50 grand (for Submission of the Night) sounds real nice, don’t it?”
Cerrone even took Joe Rogan’s words out of his mouth and told the fans at home to buy the pay-per-view. Rogan and UFC president Dana White always end the televised prelims by hyping the main card and telling people to purchase the card.
After a loss to Rafael dos Anjos earlier this year, Cerrone said he wanted to “apologize for the last couple of fights.”
Cerrone (21-6) is now 4-2 in his last six overall and has won 14 fights via submission. He is also a six-time fight-night bonus winner.
