Former Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion Sarah Kaufman got her first chance yesterday inside the Octagon. At UFC 166, she suffered a split-decision loss to Jessica Eye.
“I haven’t watched it yet but from the reaction I got from everyone, I do think I deserved to win,” said Kaufman to MMA Fighting. “That’s the decision and those are the judges. You have to finish fights.”
Kaufman went 6-2 for Strikeforce with one title defense. She unsuccessfully challenged Ronda Rousey last summer.
Eye signed with the UFC and moved up to bantamweight. At 11-1, three of Eye’s wins came from Bellator before they ceased their women’s division.
They were on the prelims of UFC 166, which came from the Toyota Center in Texas. For complete results, click here.
