UFC 166: K.J. Noons Thought About Retirement

K.J. Noons went into UFC 166 with a secret. After working full time, training 60 hours a week and with the arrival of new baby the former Strikeforce fighter was thinking about retiring.

“This was must win,” said Noons to MMA Fighting. “If I would have lost, I would have retired. If you can’t compete at the top, why do it? If I’m not getting better, it’s time to hang it up.”

After a slow first round, Noons picked up the pace with George Sotiropoulos for the decision win. It ends his three fight losing skid.

Sotiropoulos finds himself with four straight UFC defeats. At one point, the Australian was undefeated inside the Octagon at 7-0.

They were the first prelim fight of UFC 166 to air on FOX Sports 1. It was from the Toyota Center in Texas and occurred over the weekend.
