UFC 164 Co-Main Event Frank Mir Doesn’t Expect An Easy Submission Win Over Josh Barnett

Two heavyweight ground specialists are set to clash on August 31, 2013 from the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee< Wiconsin.

Former two-time UFC heavyweight Champion Frank Mir meets Josh Barnett in the UFC 164: Henderson vs. Pettis 2 co-main event on Pay Per View. Mir is recognized by many for his way of latching onto submission holds until bones break and the referee is prying away at his death grips.

Mir says he doesn’t think Barnett will get tangled in the trap on the first try, and he will likely have to tap more than once if the submission whiz does happen to lock a hold of something.

“I’m probably gonna have to link four, five or six attempts together,” Mir said to mmadigest.”Obviously, I don’t see Josh just falling victim to the first submission I jump on.”

Neither fighter has been finished by submission thus far in their careers.

This will be Barnett’s first appearance inside the Octagon since a TKO won over Randy Couture to capture the UFC heavyweight title, but it was stripped from him immediately when a banned substance was discovered in his post-fight drug test.
