The UFC 173 main card Saturday night featured a world title fight, an eliminator bout and two welterweights looking to get a future championship match.

With the Memorial Day weekend on tap, Twitter was all over the event.

The card featured a stunning upset, as T.J. Dillashaw dominated Renan Barao and became the new UFC bantamweight champion. Leading on the scorecards heading into the fifth round, the Team Alpha Male fighter didn’t relax, scoring the finish following a head kick and several uncontested strikes. Dillashaw celebrated with teammates Urijah Faber, Joseph Benavidez and Chad Mendes, along with departing head coach Duane Ludwig, inside the Octagon.

The co-main event saw Daniel Cormier completely dominate Dan Henderson and call out Jon Jones next. Cormier earned a third round submission victory when he choked “Hendo” out cold with a rear-naked.

The third big fight saw Robbie Lawler get back into title contention by scoring a finish vs. Jake Ellenberger. Lawler earned the stoppage after landing a big shot and following up with ground-and-pound.

In early main card action, Jamie Varner suffered a gruesome broken ankle when he rolled his foot three times in a fight with James Krause. After trying to continue through the injury, Varner told the ref he couldn’t fight anymore and it was called.

It also appeared as if Francisco Rivera suffered an injury to his right hand while falling to Takeya Mizugaki in a key bantamweight contest.
