The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) is back on the airwaves in the United States as Brazil continues to move ahead with their own installment of the show. UFC Director of International Development Marshall Zelaznik has heard reports that the show was getting cancelled, but denied those thoughts as they’re locked in a four year deal with Rede Globo.
“The commitment in that deal is that we will deliver four seasons of The Ultimate Fighter,” said Zelaznik. “We’ve done one. We are in pre-production on the second season under this new deal of The Ultimate Fighter. So the UFC and Globo has a very strong partnership.”
Previous winners from the Brazil version are Rony Jason and Cezar Ferreira. Both fighters are a total 5-0 for the UFC.
Zelaznik said tryouts for the next edition will be announced shortly.
“The Ultimate Fighter is here, it’s a great platform for the new up-and-coming Brazilian fighters and we’re excited and our business continues to grow,” said Zelaznik.
