Patrick Walsh vs. Daniel Spohn

The Ultimate Fighter 19 light heavyweight semifinalist will get a chance to shine, as Patrick Walsh meets Daniel Spohn.

Walsh (4-1) lost to Corey Anderson via decision in the semis, while Spohn (8-3) suffered a knockout loss to Matt Van Buren.

Round 1: Walsh, a former Ohio State University wrestling standout, scores the takedown. He’s being very active off the top, working for submissions and peppering him with shots to the body and head. Walsh has a possible straight armbar as we head under two minutes, but Spohn is remaining calm and easily gets free of the submission. He still has Walsh on top of him, though, dominating the fight so far.

Round 2: Walsh right back to where we ended the first, scoring with a takedown and moving to side control. Walsh gets reversed trying for another armlock, cranking hard to no avail. Spohn inside the guard and looking to improve his position on the ground. He takes the back and locks in the hooks with three minutes to go. Walsh easily breaks that move and turns, getting free. They exchange for the first time tonight off the break. Walsh with a nice right that lands and Spohn catches him with a combo. Walsh bullies his way to another takedown as we head under a minute in the round.

Round 3: Spohn lands with the left and a series of uppercuts. Walsh shoots for a takedown, is denied, but gets the takedown off a high-cross and into half-guard. Spohn didn’t have much to use in terms of defense to avoid getting tossed to his back. Walsh on his back and working for a rear-naked choke with plenty of time left. Spohn listening to his corner as they scream for him to get up, working to his feet. He spins around and lands a nice shot, but Walsh drops for a double-leg and scores again. The ref stands them up and Spohn is going for it. He has Walsh bleeding from the forehead and is firing off everything he has. Walsh, though, scores with another takedown after Spohn tries for a guillotine choke.
