Jumabieke Tuerxun vs. Leandro Issa

Our lone male bantamweight match takes place next, as Jumabieke Tuerxun battles Leandro Issa.

Tuerxun (14-1) lost in his UFC debut to Mark Eddiva this past March, while Issa (11-4) also was defeated in his first Octagon appearance, getting choked out by Russell Doane.

Round 1: Issa going to work right away on the lead leg with some hard kicks. Issa with a lead kick to the head that connects and follows up with more kicks. Tuerxun eats a leg kick that appeared to be low and fires off a left. He originally fought through the shot, but we now have a stoppage. Tuerxun with a huge overhand right, followed by another. Good exchange and both men are looking to land the knockout blow, firing and throwing haymakers. Tuerxun does a little run in place to get his blood going and fires off a right. Tuerxun drops Issa with a right and attacks, throwing a flying knee that misses but allows him to score a takedown off it.

FightLine scores the round 10-9 for Tuerxun

Round 2: Tuerxun throwing hard shots and backing Issa up. Good kick to the lead leg by Issa, but it’s Tuerxun who returns fire and lands another power right that almost takes him off his feet. They both land, but again, it’s Tuerxun getting the better strike off, almost taking Issa off his feet yet again. Issa uses the fence to avoid a takedown and the ref notices, stopping the action and taking a point away from him. Issa scores a takedown and moves into half-guard with two minutes to go. He’s got some ground to make up after the point deduction, and Tuerxun escapes, throwing a flying knee in the process.

Round 3: Issa scores with a takedown within the first moments, advancing to half-guard right away. Issa attempted to secure a cruicifix and switches to a head-and-arm guillotine. He has it in tight, rolls for it a second time and now mounts with the choke secured. Tuerxun looks to be in a lot of pain with almost three minutes to go. Tuerxun working hard and he slips his head out and is free of the choke but still mounted. All Issa and he is doing enough that this might be a 10-8 round and secure the win despite the point deduction. Issa transitions to an armbar and Tuerxun taps. This one is all over.
