Alexis Dufresne vs. Sarah Moras

Two female bantamweights hit the Octagon next, as Alexis Dufresne faces off with Sarah Moras.

Dufresne (5-0) last fought in February, defeating Kim Couture in regional action. Moras (3-1) hasn’t had an official fight since 2012 when she submitted Christina Barry.

Following weigh-ins, it was reported that this contest will take place at a catchweight.

Round 1: Huge shot by Dufresne and Moras retaliates with rapid fire, landing a combo. Takedown from Dufresne, as she just uses her power to score it and move to half-guard. Dufresne working a possible arm-lock, but she’s now resorted to improving her position. Moras attempts an armbar, but is unsuccessful. Dufresne pounces back down and is in side control with three minutes to go. While also working for submissions, Moras is staying active and winning the round easily from the top.

Round 2: We have a slugfest to start, but Dufresne scores with a takedown and moves right into side control. The ref has seen enough and is standing them back up, which shows how exhausted Dufresne. Moras attacks and scores with a takedown of her own. Dufresne doing a fantastic job of avoiding the damage, but she’s on her back, much like the first round for Moras. The ref, again, stands them up and I’m sure Joe Rogan is cringing somewhere. Moras shoots, but gets reversed, only to score with her own reversal and land an elbow for good measure.

Round 3: Moras comes right out, but meets a shot and gets taken down to her back. Moras, though, almost works free and to the back, only to wind up in side control with Dufresne pounding away with shots to the body. Dufresne in complete control, much like the first round. She’s not doing a lot, but just enough and will likely secure the round. Moras senses that, going for a triangle before switching to an armbar and landing a big upkick. However, Dufresne lands back on top of her as we approach a minute left in the round. Moras slips off her back just enough to work for an armbar, switching to a toe-hold as the round comes to an end.
