The normally explosive Travis Browne looked off a bit this past weekend after the opening round of his fight with Fabricio Werdum at UFC on FOX 11.
And now, courtesy of one of his coaches, we know why for sure.
Browne suffered a broken hand in the first round of his five-round war with Werdum, a bout that Werdum won to become the No. 1 contender.
Ricky Lundell posted the X-ray taken of Browne’s hand that shows a clear break below the knuckle. The loss snapped a three-fight win streak for the Hawaiian, and cost him a shot at the UFC heavyweight title.
There are also reports that Browne suffered a broken rib and a foot injury in the fight. The loss was his first since a 2012 defeat at the hands of Antonio Silva in which he suffered a hamstring injury.
