Travis Browne wants Fabricio Werdum, and he’s likely to get him after finishing Josh Barnett Saturday night at UFC 168.
Just like he did against Gabriel Gonzaga, Browne caught Barnett coming in and finished him with a flurry of elbows – all of which were legal.
UFC president Dana White previously mentioned that the winner would be positioned to face Werdum for the No. 1 contender spot in the UFC’s heavyweight division.
“It looks like Werdum and I have a date,” Browne said. “I’m ready. Whenever you are sweetheart, let’s go.”
Browne has now rebounded to place himself on the short list of contenders after a loss to Antonio Silva in 2012.
“We are the new breed of fighters,” said Browne, who is just in his fifth year of training MMA after playing basketball. “I am coming for you.
“This fight is for the blue-collar workers sitting up there in the nose bleeds (of the MGM Grand Garden Arena).”
