A heavyweight championship title-eliminator has been set, as Travis Browne will square off with Fabricio Werdum at UFC on FOX 11.
The card was announced for April 19 from Orlando and the Amway Center. Also, Miesha Tate and Liz Carmouche will meet in a women’s bantamweight collision.
Browne (15-1-1) has rebounded from a loss to Antonio Silva by finishing both Alistair Overeem and Josh Barnett. “Hapa” went 3-0 in 2013, establishing himself as a contender, despite only picking up MMA a few short years ago.
Werdum (17-5-1) is 6-1 in his last seven, but has been forced to miss several months of action while waiting to cash in his No. 1 contender slip. UFC president Dana White stated a desire to see him fight after current UFC champion Cain Velasquez was forced to the sidelines again with a shoulder injury.
Tate (13-5) and Carmouche (9-4) are both former title-contenders in the relatively-new UFC female division; with both falling to champion Ronda Rousey via armbar.
