Tony Ferguson was nervous leading to his UFC 166 fight, hoping for no multiple fighter changes. None occurred and Ferguson earned Submission of the Night from Mike Rio via a d’arce choke.
“I had a great camp,” said Ferguson to MMA Fighting. “I moved locations and switched my whole life around to do this. I just stayed focused even in the cast from my last fight. It was due and it’s my time.”
Ferguson won The Ultimate Fighter 14 and two more contests before suffering his first UFC defeat and a broken arm in May of 2012. He’s now 14-3 as a pro.
Rio hasn’t been able to win in either UFC fight this year. At 1-2, all of his UFC fights have ended via submission.
They took part of the online portion of UFC 166. It was from the Toyota Center in Texas yesterday, October 19.
