Former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz made a statement via Twitter in regards to the cancellation of his planned pay-per-view fight with Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
News broke Friday that Bellator had scrapped the main event and moved the card to Spike TV due to a fractured neck suffered by Ortiz.
“I tried everything to fight,” Ortiz wrote. “My doc and (Bellator CEO) Bjorn (Rebney) made the final decision. I will heal and be back.
“Thank you for the support.”
Earlier, Ortiz had made mention of something possibly being wrong when he wrote “Sometimes I wonder why?” with a picture that read “I know everything happens for a reason, but sometimes I wish I knew what that reason was.”
The fight was to be the first in Bellator for both men, who left the UFC in the past couple of years.
