Tito Ortiz has a neck fracture and is out of the main event of Bellator 106. It was supposed to be the promotion’s debut on pay-per-view, but that is off. All of Bellator 106 will now air for free on Spike TV and Spike.com.
Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney confirmed the news today and said they still plan on putting together a pay-per-view in the future.
“Tito wanted to fight, and his doctor said absolutely not,” said Rebney. “The executive said that the doctor said if he landed the wrong way or hit injury the wrong way, it could cause paralysis.”
Ortiz was scheldued to take on Quinton “Rampage” Jackson in the main event of the card. Jackson’s current status isn’t known.
The main card will now serve three title fights. Lightweight champ Michael Chandler vs. Eddie Alvarez, featherweight champ Pat Curran vs. Daniel Straus and an interim light heavyweight title fight between Muhammed Lawal and Emanuel Newton.
Any changes to the prelim card haven’t been disclosed.
Bellator 106 is November 2 from the Convention and Entertainment Center in Long Beach, CA.
