Yoshiyuki Yoshida feels re-born after agreeing to fight for Titan FC.
The 40-year-old from Japan will make his debut with the promotion tonight on CBS Sports Network in the main event of Titan FC 31 against Mike Ricci for the lightweight title.
Throughout a career that has taken him to the UFC, Bellator and various other organizations, Yoshida (17-6) believes he has the chance to introduce his style and abilities to U.S. MMA fans for a second time. With hopefully better results this time around.
“I had very good offers from Japanese promotions, but right now, the MMA center of the world is in the USA,” said Yoshida, in an interview with FightLine. “I signed with Titan FC because I want to rebuild my career in the U.S. and because Titan FC has many top fighters.”
He’ll jump right into the deep end with Ricci, also a veteran of the UFC who advanced to the finals of The Ultimate Fighter. Ricci (10-4) has won two straight with Titan FC, defeating George Sotiropoulos and Jorge Gurgel.
“Ricci is very smart and uses his head while fighting,” Yoshida said. “He is truly an all-around fighter, so I have to be cautious in every aspect of the fight.”
