Tim Elliott: John Moraga’s Flyweight Championship Performance Was Poor

Tim Elliott entered UFC 164 ranked number 10 in the flyweight division. His decision win over Louis Gaudinot will change the standings, but he knows champion Demetrious Johnson is still a distance away.

He did make a point to express the performance John Moraga gave Johnson. The fight saw Johnson control the entire time and finish with an armbar in the closing minutes of the final round.

“It’s whatever the bosses say,” said Elliott to MMA Fighting. “I do think John Moraga gave a poor performance and there are a lot of other 125 pounders who would do a better job. In my opinion, John Dodson is the best 125 pounder in the division.”

Elliott thinks Joseph Benavidez deserves the next title shot.

The win for Elliott makes him 2-1 for the UFC with every fight going to a decision. Gaudinot goes 1-2 in his flyweight debut.

They fought on the prelims of UFC 164, which came from the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee, WI.
