As many predicted, UFC Fight Night 57 this past weekend was a solid card from top-to-bottom.
There were plenty of exciting fights, incredible finishes and a thrilling main event that was dominated by former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar.
Edgar, who submitted Cub Swanson with just four seconds left in the five-round headline bout from Texas, wasn’t the only star of the night.
Here’s a look at three who shined bright in the “Lone Star State.”
As previously mentioned, it’s hard to not start off a story like this talking about “The Answer.”
All Edgar did was cement his status as a future UFC Hall of Famer by stopping the freight train known as Cub Swanson. And he didn’t just finish him, he dominated him for almost five rounds.
Many believed Swanson’s power would be too much for the former UFC champion to handle. Early on, Edgar got caught a few times, but he never forgot about the plan.
What’s always made Edgar successful is his ability to stick to what his coaches have taught him. He did it against Gray Maynard despite almost being finished. He did it vs. Jose Aldo, Benson Henderson and BJ Penn.
Conor McGregor might have all the talk behind him in regards to facing Aldo next for the belt, but Edgar proved himself to be a contender once again.
