The last time Thiago Silva stepped inside the cage, he earned a decision victory over Matt Hamill.
When he makes his return later this month at WSOF 19, it will also be vs. Hamill, as the two compete in a semifinal round contest for the light heavyweight title.
After getting past legal troubles that resulted in his release from the UFC, Silva (16-3) is ready to put an end to Hamill this time around.
“I’m going to have the opportunity to finish my job,” he said, during a recent appearance on Submission Radio. “I couldn’t knock him out in the last fight, but this time, I will knock him out for sure.
“I’ve been training so hard. I’m really focused when I’m training in my camp. I’m going to finish the job.”
Despite winning his last two with the UFC, and having a third fight changed to a no-contest due to a failed drug test, Silva understands why the promotion parted ways with him after his legal run-in.
“It’s all part of the business,” he said. “They made the decision they thought was the right decision to do, so I just move on.”
