Just a day after a report stated that all assault charges have been dropped against Thiago Silva, the UFC has brought him back.
Silva, who was arrested earlier this year after allegedly assaulting his estranged wife and a Brazilian jiu-jitsu instructor, was cut hours after the incident. At the time, UFC president Dana White said he would never compete again inside the Octagon.
“We are proud to announce that Thiago Silva is officially back with the UFC,” the Blackzilians Instagram account posted. “We are truly thankful to the UFC and hope to see him fighting again by January.”
Silva (16-3) went 7-3 in his first stint, including a pair of wins in 2013 over Matt Hamill and Rafael Cavalcante. He has just one official loss in his last five, but two wins were changed to no-contests after failed drug tests.
